Real Talk Non-Fiction Book Club: One Day Everyone Will Always Have Been Against This by Omar El Akkad

6:00 PM • Wednesday, June 3, 2026About Time BookstoreFree

Join us for our FREE Non-Fiction book club as we discuss: One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad. On October 25, 2023, three weeks into the bombardment of Gaza, Omar El Akkad posted a tweet that was viewed more than ten million times: "One day, when it's safe, when there's no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it's too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this." This book is his reckoning with what that sentence means: a memoir and moral argument about growing up believing in the Western project, reporting on its failures from Ferguson to Gaza, and arriving at the conclusion that the West has never intended to treat certain groups of human beings as fully human. The National Book Award winner for nonfiction, from the author of American War.
