Effective August 2026

Your data belongs to you. That's the short version. Here's the longer one.

What We Collect

If you create a Lit Circle account we collect your email address, password, zip code and, optionally, your name. If you sign-up for a personalized digest (enabling us to email you info about great events happening nearby) we collect your genre and event type preferences.

We don't track your reading habits or sell your personal information.

Site Analytics

We use Traks analytics to understand how Lit Circle is used. It records page paths, referring pages, screen width, campaign parameters, time spent on pages, and clicks to external links or downloads. Traks uses a temporary browser-session identifier so related activity can be grouped during a visit.

Partner Waitlists

If you join a bookstore or literary organization waitlist, we collect the contact, organization, and location information you submit so our admin team can review your interest and contact you about onboarding. That information is not available through the public site.

Cookies

If you share your location with us to enable event filtering we set a cookie to ensure location-based filter work effectively. We don't use cookies to track you.

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Use it anytime. No hard feelings, no guilt trip, no "are you sure?" confirmation screen. You can also contact us directly and we'll remove you manually.

External Links

When you click through to an external article, bookstore website, or event page, you leave Lit Circle and enter someone else's privacy policy. We can't speak to what those sites collect. We link to them because we think they're worth your time, not because we have any commercial relationship with them.

Changes to This Policy

We don't anticipate needing to change this policy; it's already about as minimal as it gets. If we ever do, we'll post the update here and note the new effective date. We'll also let newsletter subscribers know.
