The new book: "Come on Home When the Street Lights Shine or the Cow Bell Clangs" is a nod to nostalgia to those of us who grew up in the 1960's. Just as the name implies, it is filled with stories and memories of playing outside all day long, watching Saturday morning cartoons, Archie comics, enjoying school assemblies and carnivals, testing your dancing skills at square dancing, cars without seatbelts, sliding down hot metal slides in the summer, experiencing the BIG SNOW of 1967, typewriters and more.

Leslie Handler
Leslie has been strolling, hiking and simply playing in the forest since childhood. The wonders of every little creature continue to keep her curious about the world around her. Professionally, Leslie developed a program for the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County entitled, "Taking Care of the Planet." She presented the program for many years to young children in multiple school districts. She also spent many years as the PTO Environmental Co-Chair for Lincolnwood Schools. Her son is deaf, and since his birth, she has been very involved in organizations for the Education of students who are deaf and hard of hearing. She taught sign language to the siblings of deaf children, in addition to community classes for interested adults and children. Leslie encourages children of all ages to look out their window at the wonders of nature.
