Book Club Discussion + Mingle for Yesteryear

Featured Book

yesteryear

yesteryear

Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke is a satirical novel about a "tradwife" influencer, Natalie Heller Mills, whose curated online life implodes when she finds herself in a harsh, 19th-century reality, forcing her to confront her past and the "tradwife" lifestyle she promoted. The book, a bestseller and GMA Book Club pick, explores themes of family, fame, and faith through its unreliable narrator as she navigates a world of farm labor, rigid gender roles, and a mysterious time-travel plot. Film rights have been sold to Amazon MGM Studios. Key aspects of the book: Plot: Natalie's modern, influencer life is replaced by a brutal 1855 existence, leading to a dual narrative that questions the reality of her past and present. Genre: Darkly humorous satire, social commentary, and mystery. Themes: The performance of domesticity, the "tradwife" movement, family dynamics, and the contrast between curated online personas and harsh realities. Reception: Praised for its premise and dark humor, but some critics found the ending disappointing or felt it didn't fully explore the complexities of its themes. Author: Caro Claire Burke's debut novel, she is also a podcast co-host.

This book will be available for purchase at the event.
