Fancy Flowers Doodle & Draw Storytime
Featured Book
The Fanciest Flower
The Fanciest Flower is an eye-popping, fluorescently vivid, and hilariously written book about staying true to your roots—literally!—from debut author/illustrator Summer Benton. Ferny O’Violet always knows the perfect flower to brighten someone’s day. But when a customer comes into her shop who wants something no one’s ever seen before, Ferny gives her a flower that actually isn’t a flower at all! And even worse, now everyone wants one for themselves. What’s a florist to do when she’s selling a lie? Will she dare to return to her roots even if it means disappointing the people who love her? Filled with whimsical illustrations and gorgeously detailed scenes, it’s a heartwarming story about staying true to what you love and who you are, from debut artist and author Summer Benton
This book will be available for purchase at the event.

Featured Author

Summer Benton
Summer Benton is an author and illustrator from Michigan who has been writing and drawing since childhood. She studied art and literature at the University of Michigan, where her love of children’s books first took root. The first book in her early reader series, Zilbo’s Forest, was named a Best Book of 2025 by School Library Journal, and its sequel (out in October) is a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection. These days, you can find her drawing flowers and animals and dreaming up adventures for them—just like she's always loved to do.
