Lingering Island: A Literary Tour of the Midwest
A singular collection of creative nonfiction, Lingering Inland plumbs the personal and collective essence that binds Midwesterners together through words and places. This expansive anthology collects 73 original short essays by a diverse array of contemporary writers. Each explores locales in Midwestern literature relevant to the life and work of literary figures and canonical authors such as Toni Morrison and Willa Cather.

The Book Cellar will be hosting a reading of Lingering Island: A Literary Tour of the Midwest. Editor Andy Oler and Chicago contributors will read from and discuss the book. A Q&A and book signing to follow.

Andy Oler
Andy Oler is the author of Old-Fashioned Modernism: Rural Masculinity and Midwestern Literature and coeditor of Michigan Salvage: Approaches to the Fiction of Bonnie Jo Campbell. He is chair of the Department of Humanities and Communication at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and departments editor at The New Territory.
