The essays and poetry of “On an Inland Sea” span from Milwaukee (Millioke) to Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Ontario, and to smaller places like Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands. In addition to reaching out to specific writers, Welch held an open call for submissions, with a focus on finding as many different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences as possible.
